His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, participated, on Tuesday, in the main session of the seventeenth summit of heads of state and government of the Group of Twenty (G20), which began today on the island of Bali in the Republic of Indonesia and will continue until tomorrow, headed by President Joko Widodo of Indonesia. And the presence of leaders of the group’s countries and a number of representatives of international organizations.
His Highness the Head of State began his speech at the summit by thanking the Indonesian presidency for its great efforts in leading and coordinating the work of the Group of Twenty, wishing success for the friendly Republic of India in chairing the group during the next year.
His Highness said, “We believe in the UAE that a balanced approach is the most successful approach to achieving sustainability,” stressing the country’s commitment to its responsible role in energy markets and its pioneering agenda in the clean energy sector.
His Highness pointed out that the UAE has embodied this commitment through investments worth $50 billion in the field of clean energy in more than 40 countries around the world, and its establishment of the Crimean Climate Alliance in partnership with the friendly Republic of Indonesia, in addition to its launch of the “Accelerating the Transformation of Countries” initiative. towards sustainable energy” in cooperation with the International Renewable Energy Agency.
His Highness stressed that the UAE, as a global economic center, will continue to make utmost efforts to ensure the sustainability of food and drug chains and to harness its capabilities, ports and flights to support food security initiatives and goals.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked the participants in the summit, expressing his aspiration to meet them in the United Arab Emirates next year at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “COP28”.
