Masdar agrees to buy stakes in two wind power stations in the United States

Abu Dhabi’s Future Energy Company (Masdar) has agreed to buy the John Laing Plc Group’s stake in two wind power stations in the United States, the first time Masdar has invested in renewable energy projects in the North American continent.
Under the deal, Masdar will acquire the John Lange stake in Texas’ Roxburghs wind power station and the Sterling wind power station in New Mexico.
The acquisition arrangements are expected to be completed during the first half of 2019 and are subject to government standards and the procedures of financing partners.
According to the agreement, Masdar will have a stake in a partnership with the French company Akio Energy, Masdar’s partner in the Kronovo plant, with 72 MW of the first wind power plant in Montenegro.
The contract for the construction of the Rocksprings plant was awarded to 149 megawatts in 2017. The plant consists of 53 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW and 16 turbines of 1.72 MW each manufactured by General Electric.
The station benefits from favorable climatic conditions and provides wind in the county of Valverde, Texas.
