Britain’s new king pledges to serve his country and respect the constitution

LONDON: Britain’s new King Charles III pledged today to follow in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in serving the country with dedication, sincerity and respect for the constitution.

And the king announced – in the first official televised speech – that his son Prince William had been given the title of Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall, with them the throne.

In his speech, the king praised his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died yesterday, Thursday, at the age of 96, stressing that his mother pledged and fulfilled to serve her people for seven decades on the throne.
