Moscow confirms the withdrawal of its forces from the Ukrainian town of Lyman

Russia said on Saturday that its forces had withdrawn from the town of Lyman in eastern Ukraine, to avoid being surrounded by the Ukrainian army.

“In connection with the emergence of a threat of encirclement, the allied forces were withdrawn from the Krasnyi Lyman settlement to more advantageous lines,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

He added that “Russia inflicted heavy losses on the Ukrainian forces by directing massive strikes against them.”
