Oil prices fell below $ 60 a barrel. Brent crude fell 27 cents to $ 59.94 a barrel after trading at $ 61.27 a barrel earlier in the session.
The drop comes on pressure from US stockpiles and doubts about whether an OPEC-led cut in production will be agreed next week.
US crude fell 10 cents to $ 51.46 a barrel.
