King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam first to receive largest container ship in KSA

The Second container terminal at King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam has recently received the largest container ship in the history of Saudi ports through the cosco solar, which is 400 meters long and 59 meters wide with a capacity of 21,300 TEUs, Meters, in its first journey since its inauguration in the beginning of 2019.

According to the statistical index issued by the General Authority of Ports (Ports), the total value of exported and imported containers reached 746,401 containers during the month of May 2019, an increase of 26.52% compared to the same period last year.

The port achieved remarkable growth in handling operations during the first quarter of 2019, recording an increase in total cargo handled by 9 million tons, an increase of 24.3%, while containers reached 418 thousand containers, an increase of 13.5% % Compared to the same period of the previous year 2018.

The port also recorded a historic month (May 2019), adding to its impressive track record, where it received giant vessels up to 400 meters long and 16 meters deep with a capacity of 19,000 standard containers, the latest of which was China’s huge international ship.
