51% Non-Jordanian investors’ ownership of the ASE

The value of shares purchased by non-Jordanian investors during the month of June reached 17.3 million dinars, representing 17.3 percent of the total trading volume. The value of shares sold by the non-Jordanian investors during the same period amounted to 17 million dinars . Non-Jordanian investments in June increased by KD 0.3 million, compared with a decline of KD 1.7 million for the same month of 2018.
The value of shares purchased by non-Jordanian investors since the beginning of the year till the end of June reached KD 171.1 million, representing 25.2% of the total trading volume, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD 211.1 million, Non-Jordanian net investment decreased by KD 40.6 million, compared to a decrease of KD 13.7 million for the same period in 2018.
On the Arab investors’ side, the total value of their purchases from the beginning of the year until the end of June amounted to 92.3 million dinars, representing 53.9 percent of the total value of non-Jordanians. The total value of non-Arab purchases amounted to JD 78.9 million, representing 46.1 percent of total purchases. Non-Jordanians. The total value of sales of Arabs amounted to JD 116.8 million, representing 55.1 per cent of the total value of non-Jordanian sales. Non-Arab sales amounted to JD 95.1 million, representing 44.9 per cent of the total value of non-Jordanians.
Thus, the share of non-Jordanian investors in the listed companies at the end of June reached about 51.1 percent of the total market value. The Arab contribution constituted 36.5 percent, while the non-Arab contribution accounted for 14.6 percent of the total market capitalization. The financial sector accounted for 55.6 percent, the services sector 19.2 percent, and the industrial sector 60.2 percent.
