Twelve Jordanian food companies will participate in the Sial Food Show in Montreal, Canada, on Wednesday.
The Jordanian participation will be organized by the Jordan Exporters Association, which will last for several days, in cooperation with the Investment Authority and with the support of the US Agency for International Development.
The chairman of the association, Eng. Omar Abu Sashaa said that participation in external exhibitions represents an opportunity to promote national products, which have developed significantly over the past years in terms of quality, price and competition.
He pointed out that the participation of Jordan in the Sial Food Expo comes for the seventh year in a row and the current presence of 5 businesswomen from different parts of the Kingdom. The exhibition has the presence of international companies and represents an opportunity for Jordanian companies to identify new trading partners worldwide and open up new markets.
“The participation of businesswomen comes with the support of the Exporters’ Association,” said Abu Washah in a press statement on Tuesday, in recognition of the important role played by women in industry and the need to help businesswomen to help them access export markets.
He explained that the Association will organize on the sidelines of the exhibition to organize visits to the members of the Jordanian delegation to shops and institutions that import food from the Middle East countries, in addition to organizing meetings with Canadian businessmen wishing to import Jordanian products.
Abu Washah confirmed that there are real opportunities for national products to enter the Canadian market in the presence of a free trade agreement signed between the two countries, since all Jordanian products exported to Canada do not pay any customs duties.
On June 28, 2009, Jordan and Canada signed four bilateral cooperation agreements with a view to establishing distinctive economic relations in various fields, especially trade, including agreements, free trade agreement and three cooperation agreements in the fields of investment, labor and the environment.
The FTA contributes to raising the level of trade exchange at the level of goods between the two countries, as well as creating new export opportunities for Jordanian products in foreign markets through the possibility of integrating origin with countries that have free trade agreements with Jordan and Canada.
The Jordanian Exporters Association has been participating in the Canada Food Expo continuously since 2012 with the aim of opening up new export markets to Jordanian products.
