12% of registered projects are owned by Saudi women

Ms. Afnan Bint Asaad Al Babtain, Director of Women Entrepreneurship at the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, and a number of businesswomen in the region participated in the monthly meeting of the Businesswomen’s Council of the Eastern Chamber in Dammam.
Al-Babtain pointed out that Saudi women own 12% of the number of registered projects according to the index of entrepreneurship. From 2016 to 2016, women’s projects witnessed a 45% increase in female-owned enterprises in the United States, and women owned or operated in the UAE United States 30% of small enterprises compared to Saudi women who do not exceed 18%.
It is worth mentioning that the challenges faced by Saudi women in business are lack of role models in many areas, lack of awareness of the opportunities available for developing entrepreneurial skills, lack of access to finance and investors, and the lack of Saudi women investors.
And that the lack of incubators and business accelerators in the different regions, is a challenge to add to the faltering business facilitation, which is the difficulty of some requirements for women’s projects, pointing out that the leadership of women aims to spread the culture of entrepreneurship among the sovereigns and increase the number of commercial records owned by them, In the market, and improve the mental image of Saudi women entrepreneurs globally.
