AED 44 billion Dubai’s foreign trade volume in food items in 6 months

Dubai’s foreign trade in foodstuffs reached AED 44.24 billion in the first half of 2018, with a turnover of AED 27.68 billion, exports of AED 7.71 billion and re-exports of AED 8.84 billion, Dubai Customs said.
Dubai’s foreign trade may vary with rice with 2.43 billion dirhams followed by milk at 2.13 billion dirhams, followed by sugar worth 2.02 billion dirhams, nuts worth 1.71 billion dirhams and chocolate worth 1.55 billion dirhams.
In the first half of 2018, India was at the top of Dubai’s food trade partners with a value of 3.84 billion dirhams. Food trade with Iraq was 2.57 billion dirhams, with the United States of America at 2.36 billion dirhams and Oman with 1.58 billion dirhams.
“The Department attaches great importance to the food trade as one of the most important sectors of trade to support Dubai’s role as a major trading and food supply platform for a large number of countries in the Arab region at the global level,” said Nassim Al Muhairi, Director of Statistics and Studies at Dubai Customs and Enterprise Excellence Department.
