$ 452 million worth of UAE imports of French food products in 2018

The French Ministry of Agriculture announced that the UAE is one of the largest importers of French food products in the Middle East, with a total value of US $ 452,280,000 in 2018.
“With the development of more demanding tastes, we have seen an increase in demand in the UAE for 50% quality French food and beverages since 2010,” said Edwina Salvatore, Regional Director, Subixa Middle East.
This is mainly due to the growing number of luxury hotels and new restaurants being opened in parallel with increased retail demand. We believe there is a great opportunity for the growth of French product exports throughout the Middle East. ”
Globally, French exports of food products are worth more than $ 65 billion, making it the sixth largest food exporter in the world. While French exports to the Middle East market amount to US $ 2.2 billion, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE leading the list of importing countries, followed by Egypt and Lebanon. French exports are distributed between beverages which make up 30%, dairy products 16% and fruits 9%.
