The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of August rose by 5.3 percent compared to the same month last year to reach 125.5 points compared to 119.1 points for the same month of last year, according to the Jordanian Statistics Department.
The report pointed out that the rise of (inflation) for the last month is due to the increase in prices of transport group by 1.28 percentage points, cereals and products, 11.1 tobacco and cigarettes 0.59, fuel and lighting 0.45 and rents by 0.40 percentage points.
On the other hand, the prices of a group of commodities, including fruits and nuts, decreased by 0.09 percentage points, clothes 0,06, spices, food and other food products by 0.01, and sugar and its products by 0.01 percentage points.
The consumer price index (inflation) rose during the last eight months of this year by 4.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
