The new year 2023 witnesses a global sporting momentum in the capital, Abu Dhabi, especially during the first quarter of it, where many major sporting events and events are held, the most prominent of which are 6 major sporting events with a high-level global presence, as part of the agenda of hosting major sporting events during the year.

In January, two prominent events are held, the Argentine Football Super Cup, which is hosted by the capital, Abu Dhabi, in accordance with the strategic partnership agreement signed between the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Argentine Football Association, which extends for four years until 2026, and comes in support of Abu Dhabi’s partnership plans with international sports institutions and bodies, and as an extension To attract elite international sporting events, and to work to host historical football sporting events in Abu Dhabi.

This partnership was previously activated when the capital, Abu Dhabi, hosted the Argentine national team camp before the 2022 World Cup, which Argentina recently crowned for the third time in its history.

During the same month, the 18th edition of the HSB Golf Championship will be held in Abu Dhabi, specifically on Yas Island, with the participation of some of the world’s brightest stars. It will start on January 19 and continue until the 22nd of the same month at the Yas Links Course on Yas Island.

Among the most prominent stars participating in it are Seamus Power, who is participating for the first time in the Rolex Series, defending champion Tyrrell Hatton, and Ryan Fox, who is crowned with the DB World Tour title 3 times, as well as the star Francesco Molinari, the holder of the Open Championship in 2018.

The month of February witnesses the establishment of the most prominent cycling event in the world, the “Emirates Tour”, which will start in its fifth edition on February 20th and will continue until the 26th of the same month, as its start and end will be in Abu Dhabi, and it is the only global cycling race in the Middle East.

The most prominent stars participate in this annual global event, led by Primoz Roglic and Adam Yates, who were crowned champions in the 2019 and 2020 versions, respectively, and Tadi Bogacher, the star of the UAE team, who was crowned with the title in the 2021 and 2022 versions, and also crowned twice with the Tour de France title, one of the most prominent world tours.

The day after the launch of the Emirates Tour, the capital, Abu Dhabi, will host the “Cities” World Padel Tennis Masters Championship “Abu Dhabi 2023”, which will continue until the 26th of the same month, in Bab Al-Nujoom on Al-Hudayriat Island, with the participation of 128 international senior paddle tennis players, as it is the only tournament for masters. Paddle tennis in the Middle East.

The tournament is held in cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, MODON Properties, and the World Paddle Tour, and is organized by Global Mace Organization Limited (GMOL Events).

It is also the first round of the “World Paddle Tour for Professionals” in the 2023 season and represents one of the annual professional championship tours that are held around the world, through which the capital Abu Dhabi joins Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Marbella, Valladolid and Madrid as the latest city to host a round of “World Paddle” tours. On the first of March, the Global Summit of Sports Leaders will return to Abu Dhabi during the 1st and 2nd days of the same month, where it will be held at the Convention Center in Yas Circuit with the participation of more than 450 sports leaders around the world.
