SIAL Middle East 2018, which concluded its ninth edition in Abu Dhabi, has attracted 28,324 visitors, food and beverage experts and hospitality from 94 countries and witnessed deals between exhibitors, agents and leading companies in the food and hospitality industry worth AED 7.08 billion through 138 deal.
Thamer Rashid Al Qassimi, Chairman of SIAL Middle East 2018, said that the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has contributed to SIAL’s regional and global positioning as one of the most important economic events. Which seeks to strengthen the food economy locally and globally and is looking at ways to reduce the gap between supply and demand by providing innovative and diverse alternatives that meet the needs of the consumer and cover the growing demand for food.
He pointed out that the results achieved by the latest version of SIAL Middle East, which exceeded expectations, is a proof of the emirate’s leadership in adding value to the business tourism sector and the events it hosts and oversees the organization. He stressed that SIAL Middle East is an ideal platform for international companies working in Food and beverage, aircraft supply and a platform for entrepreneurs to expand their projects and investments.
The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) announced on the sidelines of the exhibition that it will identify its needs for 2019 in support of food production in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by signing with 3 national companies to supply inputs worth 1.580 billion dirhams and the Arab Commission for Agricultural Investment and Development (ACIAA) worth AED 606 million, The national carrier of the UAE, announced its needs for the next year of food and beverages worth AED 344.5 million, 92% of which for food and 08% for beverages, in addition to determining the general leadership of Abu Dhabi Police for its food needs for the next year 2019, which amounted to about AED 56 million Food, beverage and hospitality.
According to preliminary estimates, the exhibition has contributed more than AED 48 million to the business tourism sector in Abu Dhabi through hotel bookings for exhibitors, competitors and visitors, as well as the economic return of hosting the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition and Convention Center for the exhibition and visiting visitors to Abu Dhabi’s tourism attractions
