ADNOC Logistics and Services, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), announced today that it has reduced its fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 23% in its 27 marine cargo vessels through the implementation of the Dafda Energy Efficiency Project.
Dafda Energy Efficiency is one of ADNOC’s many initiatives to increase operational efficiency and offer more competitive offerings to its customers. As the owner and operator of a fleet of 27 vessels from the total fleet of 122 vessels, the project has had a significant impact on them, with ship fuel costs being one of the largest operating expenses for ship operators.
Since 2013 ADNOC Logistics and Services has been able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1 million tons. ADNOC Logistics and Services is the largest integrated shipping and marine services company in the UAE.
“The Dafda Energy Efficiency Project is a clear example of what we can achieve by adopting ADNOC’s values and leveraging our extensive experience and partnerships in this field to deliver value,” said Captain Abdulkarim Al Musabi, CEO of ADNOC Logistics & Services. Bigger for our customers. ”
The Dafda Energy Efficiency project has benefited significantly from the digital transformation technology and solutions it provides to improve energy performance and rationalize its use, including helping to plan ship routes better, improving fuel consumption monitoring and boosting engine speeds. Advanced updates and solutions included the installation of more efficient propulsion fans and the coating of ship structures with high-performance materials to improve the movement and operation of the ship. The company has also benefited from favorable market prices in chartering an additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship to ensure a smoother movement of the fleet while ensuring timely shipment of cargo.
