High Transshipment Containers in Saudi Ports 8.72%

The ports of Saudi Arabia, supervised by the General Authority for Ports, increased by 166,389 thousand containers in the total number of transshipment containers during the month of March 2019, an increase of 8.72% compared to the corresponding period of 2018, amounting to 152,946 thousand containers.
This increase in the total number of transshipment containers is a confirmation of the integration of infrastructure, increasing operational capacity and efficiency, as well as advanced handling equipment in Saudi ports and ease of procedures, as well as the speed of loading and unloading operations, and raise the level of performance and productivity and operational and logistical capabilities, in order to achieve the goals and pillars of the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030.
Transshipment is considered the transit station through which containers are transported and unloaded from one ship to another, the latter being at a port outside the Kingdom. Transshipment is a value-added service that the major ports of the world seek to increase by attracting in line with the kingdom’s ambition to become a global logistics platform.
