Japanese stock index rises

Japanese stocks rose today after markets in China and Hong Kong stabilized somewhat, but gains were limited by continuing concerns about the global economic slowdown.
The Nikkei <.N225> gained 0.06 percent to 20418.81, down 1.2 percent in the previous session.
