Jordan: Queen Alia International Airport receives more than 1.8 million passengers

Queen Alia International Airport received 1,814,157 passengers during the first quarter of 2018, a significant increase of 8.5% in passenger traffic since the beginning of the year compared to the first quarter of last year, according to statistics from the International Airport Group. During the first quarter of this year, the movement of aircraft at the airport to 16,609 movements, recording a decline of 1.8%. Air cargo traffic surged 8.8% to 24,690 tons. In March, Queen Alia International Airport received 646,579 passengers, a significant increase of 13.3% compared to March 2017, and also achieved record monthly traffic for the third time. This came in the same month, while the movement of aircraft during the same month to 5,854 traffic, recording a small decline of 0.6%, while air traffic rose by 7.2%, recording 9,124 tons. During the first quarter of 2018, the most popular destinations were Dubai, Cairo, Jeddah, Doha and Kuwait, while overall positive growth could be attributed to Cairo, Istanbul, Doha, Kuwait and Baghdad. Commenting on the results, Kild Benger, Chief Executive Officer, International Airport Group, said: “It is great to conclude the first quarter of 2018 with a remarkable rise, especially as we re-establish record monthly passenger traffic for the third time this year. Visitors from around the world and the approaching holy month of Ramadan, we look forward to further progress in the coming months. “
