Jordan ranks first in renewable energy in the Middle East and North Africa

According to the Bloomberg Research Report on the Clean and Renewable Energy Status of 2017, Jordan achieved the first place in the renewable energy sector in the Middle East and North Africa region and ranked third in the world after China and Brazil among 71 countries around the world.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabshe stressed the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah’s support for the energy sector, saying that His Majesty the first energy sector since taking over his constitutional powers on February 7, 1999, and has embodied this on several occasions by directing successive governments to rely more on Alternative energy sources such as wind, solar and oil shale.

During the meeting, the Ministry’s achievements were presented last year by the Director of Institutional Development, Eng. Shuroq Abdul Ghani, who said that what was reached in the way to achieve the royal directives within the vision of Jordan 2025 was based on a clear plan that includes strategic objectives and specific performance indicators.

The index of growth in the clean and renewable energy market in Jordan, including the policies and legislation necessary to invest in this field, was adopted as a criterion for determining the first grade. The investment volume index achieved for its date and expected in the near future has been adopted and its impact on the management of greenhouse gases and reduction of carbon emissions.

And the implementation of the royal monarchy has contributed to the cost of delivery of electricity to the homes of poor families in the area of ​​Alshidiya in the province of Maan and Giza and Muqer in the capital city and the Blue Region in the province of Zarqa to stabilize the citizens in their land and reduce migration to the city at the expense of rural Fils.

In addition, the Ministry has increased the contribution of natural gas to electricity generation to 87% and started work on the implementation of the power plant with the direct combustion of shale oil with a capacity of 470 MW, in addition to the announcement of six open oil areas and rationalize energy consumption and improve efficiency in all Sectors through various programs for various sectors: domestic, industrial, tourism and places of worship.
