“Islamic Development” launches an innovation fund worth 500 million dollars

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in the Tunisian capital has launched a $ 500 million “transformation platform” to boost economic growth in the developing world and support science, technology and innovation initiatives to meet development challenges worldwide.
In a speech on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Dr Bandar Hajjar said that the Fund will work in line with the goals of sustainable development of the United Nations to accelerate the achievement of greater levels of food security, a healthier life, inclusive and equitable education and sustainable water management. Sanitation services, access to affordable energy and sustainable industrialization throughout the developing world.
“The IDB recognizes that people in the developing world need more than just grant funding,” he said, noting that they need sustainable solutions to help them make their own way out of poverty.
Real financial support in the science and technology sectors was essential to advancing inclusive and sustainable sustainable development and the transformation platform would ensure that bank members could access financing stream flows to help fund creative ideas associated with real development solutions.
