UAE Participates in Arab League Meeting on Uniform Customs Law

The UAE participates in the 32nd meeting of the unified Arab Customs Law Committee which started yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and with the participation of representatives of the Arab customs administrations.
The delegation was headed by Ali Rashid Al-Dhahnani, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the Federal Customs Authority, and included Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Director of the Cooperation Council Affairs Department at the Ministry of Finance and Jasim Al-Nuaimi at the Federal Customs Authority.
Dr. Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, Director of the Department of Economic Integration at the Arab League, said that the Committee had completed the preparation of the draft unified Arab customs law, its executive regulations and explanatory note, which were submitted to the Customs Union Committee and then to the Economic and Social Council.
Abu Al-Nasr said that the committee seeks to reach consensus on the reservations made by the Economic and Social Council during its last session at the ministerial level on the law and its explanatory memorandum and explanatory memorandum, in addition to reviewing some of the articles of the law, which was previously wrong in relation to taking the Arab dinar arithmetic as currency In dealing either in the penalties or currency accompanying the passenger “currency law”.
He added: “Unfortunately, there was confusion in estimating the value of the Arab dinar’s arithmetic currency and therefore asked the Arab League General Secretariat to prepare a study on what is the Arab dinar and how to calculate it, and how the Arab customs ports can reach the value of this dinar at customs outlets.”
