Abu Dhabi, March 8, the day after tomorrow, Friday, the competitions of the first round of the Emirates Powerboat Championship – Category Three will start on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, in a strong return to the competitions of this old classic championship on the map of marine sports in the country.
The championship is held over 3 days, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and ends on Sunday with the final and main race of the round. The third category races contributed to the introduction and exit of Emirati champions who reached the world, and their start was with this championship.
Champions with a strong history in competitions are participating in the tour, most notably the Abu Dhabi Team 4 and 5 boats, the Dubai Police boat and the Kuwaiti boat Raheeb.
The activities begin with the preparation of the camp for the participating boats and the arrival of the contestants tomorrow, Thursday, in addition to important technical sections on Friday, with the official registration and technical examination of the boats, in addition to free trials on the race track and testing the track details for the participants.
On Friday, the first enlightening meeting of the contestants will be held at 5:00 pm. On Saturday, the kilometer break race competitions will start and try to record the best time on the competition track, then the main race will start on Sunday and the end of the round.
Nasser Al Dhaheri, Head of the Modern Racing Department at the club, thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club, and expressed his happiness at the return of the championship again to the club’s championships agenda after a long absence.
He confirmed the completion of all preparations and equipment for the logistical round, in addition to laying the race track, which will start from outside Lulu Island at the beginning, and then turn around the inner track for the race along the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
He added, “We have been fully prepared for the start of the round with its details and its residence in the appropriate atmosphere for such races.”
