UAE.. 500 dirhams fine for not authenticating commercial import invoices within 14 days

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of direct digital certification of commercial import invoices to the UAE within 14 days from the date of entry statement, through the electronic document authentication system (eDAS) available on the Ministry’s website, to obtain the digitally certified invoice within only 12 minutes.

The Ministry stated that the certification fees for commercial invoices and certificates of origin amount to 150 dirhams, pointing out that there is a fine of 500 dirhams for each uncertified invoice in the event that import invoices are not certified within 14 days from the date of the entry statement.

The Ministry confirmed that all imports to the UAE must be accompanied by an invoice certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE, pointing out that this decision was based on Cabinet Resolution No. (38) of 2022 regarding fees for certification of documents, invoices and certificates of origin for imports into the country. Emirates, which stipulates that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall collect the consideration for the certification of invoices amounting to 10 thousand dirhams or more, received by the country in the representative missions of the country abroad or in the offices of the ministry, or by one of the branches of banks operating in the country, or through local customs, A fixed fee of 150 AED.

And for the Ministry to collect a fee for the certification of some certificates, according to the following services: commercial documents a fee of 2000 dirhams, services of personal status documents, copies of certificates, attested invoices, certificates of origin or the manifest, “goods cargo statement” and any other document, the Ministry collects a fee of 150 dirhams for each service .
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued 400,000 digital attestations, without the need for stickers and stamps on documents, within 5 months, since the launch of the electronic document authentication system “eDAS” in February until June 2023, pointing out that the system uses artificial intelligence algorithms; To validate submitted documents, which speeds up processing time and improves information accuracy.
The electronic document authentication system «eDAS» is an advanced digital platform that facilitates the authentication of various types of official, personal and commercial documents in the UAE. The system also allows users to send their documents and requests electronically, without the need to submit paper documents. The system uses artificial intelligence algorithms; To validate submitted documents, which speeds up processing time and improves information accuracy.
