Jordan: Reducing electricity tariffs on some productive sectors

According to a statement issued by the Energy and Minerals Sector Regulatory Authority on Tuesday, it announced the reduction of electricity tariffs on some productive sectors (medium industrial, telecommunications and private hospitals). The ceiling of the fuel price difference on the average industrial sector was set at 10 fils per kilowatt hour The first of next June.
The decision includes a gradual reduction of the electricity tariff for the telecommunication sectors and private hospitals in three stages, reaching a tariff rate in 2020 estimated at 160 fils per kilowatt-hour. The reduction will start on July 1 2018.
The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission has completed studying ways to reduce the cost of electricity to some productive sectors in order to maintain its competitiveness and enhance its contribution to the national economy.
The decision of the Board of Commissioners as of 1/6/2018 and the gradual reduction of the electricity tariff for the telecommunications sector will be implemented in three stages, reaching a tariff rate in 2020 of about 160 fils per kWh. / 7/2018.
The gradual reduction of the tariff for the private hospitals sector in three stages, reaching a tariff rate in 2020 of about 160 fils per kilowatt-hour. This reduction will be effective from 1/7/2018.
