Arab accreditation body concludes in Tunisia with UAE participation

The 7th General Assembly and the Technical Committees of the Arab Accreditation Agency (AACA), chaired by Amina Ahmed Mohamed, Chairman of the Arab Accreditation Agency (AACA), concluded the Tunisian capital.
The annual meetings of the Authority focused on two main axes: the sustainability of the work of the Authority and the expansion of the scope and work of the umbrella of the Convention on Mutual International Recognition of Accreditation and Conformity Assessment.
During the meetings, the General Assembly approved the promotion of the membership of the accreditation body in Sudan to the status of full membership and the approval of the Lebanese Council for Accreditation to the membership of the Arab accreditation body, bringing the total of the organs to 18 members representing 18 Arab countries.
The Arab Accreditation Body was established within the framework of the implementation of the cooperation project between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO). The Authority currently has 18 accreditation bodies from Arab countries, four of which have passed the peer assessment, accession and signature of the ARAC MLA. The agreement included the bodies of the Egyptian Accreditation Council / EGAC / the Emirates International Accreditation Center / EIAC / and the accreditation unit of the accreditation and standardization system in Jordan. / JAS-AU / Center Gulf / GAC accreditation in the work to raise the rest of the members of the capabilities to reach the level of international recognition.
Amina Ahmed Mohamed said that the main task of the Authority is to coordinate and develop the infrastructure of accreditation activities in the Arab countries in order to obtain international recognition of this activity and build confidence in the results of conformity assessment services approved by the Arab accreditation bodies.
The internationally recognized accreditation activities aim to enhance confidence in the results and work of conformity assessment bodies such as testing and calibration laboratories, inspection laboratories, medical laboratories and certification bodies. This ensures confidence in the commercial and industrial system in the Arab countries by ensuring that their products conform to local and international requirements and facilitates the flow of goods and goods. To overseas markets.
The accreditation is one of the main pillars of the national quality infrastructure besides the standards, calibration and conformity assessment, which contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the national products and services of the member bodies in giving credibility to the products and services exported to and from them.
She added that the Arab accreditation body has developed strategies and programs of action to support its members and build their capacities so that they can reach international recognition and benefit the Arab economies and trade exchange with the countries of the world.
It should be noted that the Arab accreditation body may get international recognition by the International Organization for Accreditation of Laboratories (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum / IAF / in the areas of inspection, calibration, certification and inspection by the end of 2017, which represents a qualitative leap in the steps of the body and book a corner from which its achievements It is an important step towards achieving Arab economic integration, which is one of the most important objectives of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and is currently expanding recognition areas to cover other vital areas of Arab infrastructure for conformity assessment.
