“Industry and Advanced Technology” applies the digital identity to obtain its services

Abu Dhabi, August 4 / The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology announced the start of the mandatory application of the digital identity (UAEPass) for customers and companies with the ministry’s systems to obtain digital services exclusively through the ministry’s electronic portal and smart application.

This comes in line with the objectives of (We Are the Emirates 2031), the government’s vision for the next decade aimed at strengthening the leadership of the UAE as a competitive, vital economic center, and in line with the national strategy for industry and advanced technology, and in support of the government’s directions for digital transformation.

The decision entered into mandatory implementation as of July 15, and new customers of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology must register via the digital identity (UAEPass) to obtain industry services, specifications, conformity, and accreditation provided by the ministry, in a way that supports the strategic objectives of the ministry, to provide all administrative services. According to international best practices, and in line with the principles of fifty years, leading to the achievement of the UAE Centennial 2071.

Humaid Hassan Al Shamsi, Director of the Customer Happiness Department at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, confirmed that the ministry witnessed a positive interaction by customers in the shift to using the digital identity, as the number of users of the UAEPass digital identity application reached 3,795 users during the trial period until the application entered into mandatory and planned implementation. It started on August 15, 2023, indicating that the total number of customers who were registered to access the ministry’s services amounted to 12,756 users.

He added: “Linking the digital identity to the ministry’s procedures and services through the website and smart applications reflects the ministry’s keenness to provide an easy and smooth experience for customers in obtaining services, and completing transactions efficiently, quickly and effectively, in addition to that it is linked to the ministry’s commitment to achieving the vision of the UAE government and the ministry in digital transformation and enhancing Customer experience through government interdependence.

He explained that within the framework of the continuous development efforts to involve customers in developing the ministry’s services, the trial phase has been activated for customers, which lasts for two weeks, in order to go through the registration experience and follow up on how easy the service is for them.

He pointed out that the ministry is keen to keep pace with government trends, as the digital identity is the ideal solution for users and dealers to access the services of government agencies and service providers. It also allows the possibility of signing documents digitally and verifying their authenticity without the need to visit service centers. Circulars, letters and guides in both Arabic and English to companies and customers to clarify the registration mechanism and link customers’ accounts with the digital identity.

Al Shamsi stated that registering customers with the digital identity will improve their experience in obtaining services by reducing the fields that need to be filled out in the past to enter the Ministry’s services portal. They can also fill out forms automatically as well as automatically download documents. During the last period, the Ministry’s customers were provided with a guide. Integrated to connect the user with the digital identity and disconnect via the application, to help them register and understand the requirements and procedures.

Customers of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology can obtain the UAEPass digital identity application for smartphones through the iTunes and Google Play platforms, and registration for customers takes place through simple steps, which include inserting the customer’s Emirates ID card, verifying the mobile phone number and email address, creating a password, Hence access to government services in general.
