China launches environment monitoring satellite

China today launched a new satellite into a planned orbit, to monitor the atmosphere, space and marine environments, prevent and mitigate disasters, and conduct scientific experiments.

The “Yunhai-1 03” satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert in northwest China, aboard a Long March-2D carrier rocket, Xinhua reported.
