Jordanian energy and minerals control 9,756 cases of electric current theft in six months

The Jordanian Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority (MRAI) said on Wednesday that 9756 cases of illegal electricity smuggling had been seized since the beginning of the year until the end of last June. The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Eng. Farouk Hayari said in a press statement that the seizures were made through 140469 periodic disclosure programmed by the cadres of the Commission in cooperation with the competent authorities, noting that the share of the Authority out of the total seizures amounted to 4690 cases of illegal displacement of electric power while the total seizures carried out Electricity distribution companies 3614 cases, while members of public security and gendarmerie seized 1452 cases. In the first six months of 2018, Al-Hayari said that the number of cases registered by the courts in the first six months of 2018 was 316 cases recorded by Jordan Electricity Company, 558 cases recorded by the Irbid Electricity Company and 105 cases with the Electricity Distribution Company. As for the cases in which judicial rulings have been issued since the beginning of the year according to Engineer Hayari 1241 cases, including 488 cases in the Jordanian Electricity Company, 524 cases in Irbid Electricity Company and 229 cases in the Electricity Distribution Company
