The General Pension and Social Security Authority said that the registration of the insured in the private sector with the authority represents the first step towards enjoying the insurance benefits provided by the authority’s social insurance system, in addition to the benefits provided by the “Nafes” program for workers in the private sector.

Mohammed Saqr Al Hammadi, Director of Pensions Operations Department, explained that registration for citizens working in the private sector is mandatory under the provisions of Federal Law No. (7) of 1999 for Pensions and Social Security and its amendments, which obliges employers to register the insured immediately upon joining work when the conditions of inclusion apply to him.

He added that as part of the Authority’s campaign to raise awareness of the rights of workers in the private sector who are affiliated with the “Nafes” initiative, the conditions for registering citizens working in the private sector are that the age of the insured upon appointment should not be less than (18) and not more than (60) years, and that he be medically fit to work. Upon appointment, according to a medical report from the medical authority approved by the Authority. It is also a condition for participation that the insured has the nationality of the United Arab Emirates, indicating that all provisions related to registration apply to anyone who obtains the nationality of the country at any time.

Al-Hammadi clarified the conditions for employers to be subject to the provisions of the Pensions Law .. He said: “Employers in the private sector in all emirates of the country are subject to the provisions of the Pensions Law, with the exception of employers in the private sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” indicating that companies whose headquarters are located in any of the emirates They are subject to the provisions of the Federal Pensions Law, including their branches in the other emirates. As for the entities that have a main center for their management in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, they are subject to the Abu Dhabi Pensions Law, including their branches in the other Emirates.

He added that the conditions for being subject to the provisions of the law apply to free zones and entities operating in the field of tourism and hotels that employ national workers, and if they verify their legal position regarding their compliance with the provisions of the law, they must register their employees with the Authority, as is the case with all employers to which the conditions apply. Submission to the law.

He pointed out that these entities are only obligated to register with the Authority if a citizen joins them, and if their staff is devoid of any citizen, they are not required to register with the Authority.
