Several Japanese and foreign figures participated, Tuesday, in honoring the memory of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was shot dead, at a national funeral that split the country between thousands of citizens who rushed to bid him farewell and others who demonstrated in protest against the ceremony.
The funeral began with the arrival of the widow of former Prime Minister Aki Abe in a black kimono, carrying her husband’s ashes, to the Nippon Budokan Center, where he was received by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
