SABIC joins a global alliance to eliminate plastic waste

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has joined the Alliance for the Elimination of Plastic Waste as its founding member, a non-profit organization of 27 companies working together to find advanced solutions to help reduce the mismanagement of plastic waste.
SABIC aims to ensure that the company is able to provide valuable uses for the emitted gases released into the atmosphere as a by-product of oil and gas production.
SABIC recycles the waste from its manufacturing operations and operates the world’s largest CO2 sequestration and purification plant, which is used in refining fertilizers and other chemical products.
The coalition will work with government agencies, multilateral institutions, NGOs and local communities to encourage them to contribute to supporting investments and programs over the next five years to assist in the disposal of plastic waste in the environment. Progress will be made in four areas The development of plastic waste management infrastructure, increased recycling, innovation for the development and expansion of new materials, and the introduction of new product designs that will reduce material waste as well as the development of new technologies for recycling Dwir.
