Implementing the immediate customs exemption for imports of imported industry at the level of Emirate of Abu Dhabi

The Industrial Development Bureau of the Abu Dhabi Economic Development Department (ADB) and the General Administration of Abu Dhabi (ADEC) announced the immediate exemption of customs duties on imports of raw materials, machinery, equipment and spare parts in the framework of the incentives provided by the Department to the industrial sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Ali Al Hammami, Director of the Industrial Regulation Department at the Industrial Development Bureau, said at a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Department that the announcement of the immediate customs exemption for the inputs of industry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi was based on the agreement signed between the Office of Industry Development and General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Business Forum In Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
He pointed out that the immediate customs exemption for the inputs of the industry depends on the system of the annual balance of beneficiaries through the direct electronic link between the systems used by both the Customs Department of Abu Dhabi and the Industrial Development Bureau to achieve the acceleration in this procedure.
He pointed out that the technical team specialized in the Office is studying the annual needs of the beneficiaries and determining them in the system of annual balance used for the file of the investor through the system of industrial licenses, where the approval of the installation of the total materials and quantities required during the year annual balance, which constitutes a qualitative change in terms of time taken and accuracy of the procedure.
Ali Al-Hammami said that the approval of the request for immediate customs exemption depends on the results of an integrated technical study on the annual needs of the industry inputs for the beneficiaries instead of examining each exemption request individually, based on the use of only one system in the technical evaluation process and reducing the time it took to approve the exemption request And the number of technical studies is reduced. The annual balance of the beneficiaries (from 400 to 500) is examined instead of each individual application for more than 26,000 applications per year.
He pointed out that the volume of transactions for customs exemptions on industrial inputs received by the Industrial Development Bureau during the year 2017 amounted to 26 thousand transactions with a total value of (1.5) billion dirhams exempt from payment.
Ali Al-Hammami said that the system currently used for customs exemption from the inputs of the industry is carried out immediately since the submission of the application during the (Abu Dhabi system) in two steps only, the submission of the customs declaration and granting the approval immediately and payment of the required fees, noting that the request before that was done within one to two working days Through submission of the customs declaration and submission of the application for exemption and payment of fees and activation of the application to the system of Abu Dhabi after confirmation of payment of fees and study the request and determine approval or rejection in the two systems and finally review the application and approval of the final approval.
