The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation has signed a cooperation agreement with Dubai Municipality regarding business regulation and cooperation in the field of environment, health and safety and the preservation of the coastal region in the Emirate of Dubai, in a way that enhances sustainable development goals and keeps pace with the objectives of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 aimed at improving environmental sustainability and quality of life to make Dubai the city The best to live, work and visit in the world.

The agreement was signed by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Dawood Abdul Rahman Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

The agreement aims to raise the level of cooperation in the field of business organization and obligations related to authorization, regulation, supervision, control and inspection in the areas of environment, health and safety, in accordance with the legislation regulating free zones and special development zones and all legislation, controls and procedures related to environmental protection, health and safety, as well as those related to preserving the coastal zone in the Emirate of Dubai. .

On this occasion, Sultan bin Sulayem said: We are keen in the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation to enhance environmental control in the areas that we supervise in a way that contributes to achieving the sustainability goals that embody the approach, goals and vision of Dubai and the UAE in environmental work, with our belief that providing a healthy and safe environment It contributes to facilitating and enhancing the economic transformation in Dubai through innovative processes, regulations and solutions that contribute to ensuring sustainable business activities, by adopting a forward-looking vision aimed at providing an attractive environment that enhances economic diversification in the areas it oversees, and creating new economic sectors that achieve the goals of sustainable development to build A more prosperous future in the emirate.

Bin Sulayem added: “We at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation are pleased to cooperate with Dubai Municipality in the areas of environment, health and safety, and we seek in the corporation to progress at an accelerated pace towards achieving our environmental strategies in cooperation with the concerned government agencies.”

He explained that under the agreement, the Corporation will work through the Planning and Development Department – licenses to achieve the objectives of the environment, health and safety indicators, and to preserve the coastal region within the specified geographical scope, in addition to carrying out environmental monitoring operations for the various environmental sectors, including air, water, soil, and taking all measures that ensure The commitment of institutions and projects to obtain environmental and engineering approvals and permits related to the environment, health and safety in accordance with the approved systems and procedures.
