Implementing inspection and control campaigns on markets and outlets during Ramadan

The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi carried out 181,000 and 410 inspection and control visits to commercial establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2018 related to commercial fraud and combating negative trade phenomena, including the three regions of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
This came during a press briefing organized by the Department of Economic Development at its headquarters to announce the details of its launching of inspections and control of markets and outlets during the holy month of Ramadan in the presence of Mohammed Ali Al Marar Acting Executive Director Abu Dhabi Business Center, Ahmed Tareq Al Qubaisi Acting Director of Commercial Protection Department and Hamed Al Hashemi Head of Consumer Protection Department And Ahmed Rashid Al Mansouri, Head of Trademarks and Branding.
“Abu Dhabi Economic Department, through the Department of Trade Protection, is keen to enhance consumer confidence in the local market in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through the creation of an active partnership with businesses through cooperation in the implementation of initiatives and campaigns that protect consumers and save,” said Rashid Abdul Karim Al Baloushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi. He stressed that the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi is intensifying inspections and monitoring of local markets and outlets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the month of Ramadan as part of its keenness to enhance the protection of consumers from the negative phenomena and misconduct of some businesses during the seasons and events.
Mohammed Al Marar said during the briefing that during the month of May, the Department is implementing a plan to monitor and inspect the markets in the three cities of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. These include campaigns on outlets, fruit and vegetable shops, livestock markets, meat shops and consumer awareness. Ramadan and the shops of consumer goods.
Al-Marer pointed out that the inspection campaigns conducted by the Department during the holy month of Ramadan focus on checking the status of the price card on the goods presented in the various commercial establishments, issuing invoices that include the data clearly and correctly and applying the generalization of the use of the Arabic language on invoices, For downloads and offers and placing the permit in a prominent place in the establishment’s headquarters and verify the weight card and the real weight of the product.
Al-Marar said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the department is keen to intensify the supervision and inspection campaigns during the occasions and holidays, during which there is a large commercial activity in different cities of the emirate, which necessitates a doubling of work to protect the consumer and monitor all violations of the regulations and conditions of practicing commercial activity.
