The first Advisory Council meeting this year, in the presence of business and trade groups, witnessed presentations and interventions on Dubai’s economic agenda and its ambitious goals in trade, which are based on Dubai’s wide commercial network and its position as a pivotal center for global trade. 9.6 million imitations

Dubai Customs strengthened its efforts to combat counterfeit goods and protect intellectual property rights, as the number of intellectual property dispute cases dealt with by the department in the first quarter of 2023 reached about 112 cases involving 9.6 million pieces of counterfeit goods with a total value of 28.85 million dirhams, and the department continued to organize recycling operations. For counterfeit goods, where 24 recycling operations were organized, which included 43.78 thousand pieces of counterfeit goods.

The department completed 3 awareness initiatives to introduce the dangers and damages of counterfeit goods, in which 91 participants participated. They were divided into two community activities, 11 activities for schools and universities, and 5 activities for customs departments and centers, in addition to 3 workshops organized in cooperation with trademark owners, and 91 trademarks and 86 agencies were registered. commercial.

The total number of seizure reports for the first quarter of this year was recorded as 502. These seizures come within the framework of the efforts made by Dubai Customs to protect society and the economy, and to enhance security stability as the first line of protection for society, and for its keenness to play its vital role in supporting the national economy.
Dubai Customs was keen to promote a culture of innovation in customs work, as it honored 25 innovative employees of people of determination for their efforts in presenting ideas and solutions through systems and channels of creativity and innovation.
67 community initiatives
And through its annual strategy that supports the launch of sustainable development initiatives, the department succeeded during the first quarter of 2023 in reaching nearly 17,500 beneficiaries through the implementation of 67 community and voluntary initiatives, and it also implemented 740 physical and electronic training courses during the first quarter of 2023.
