Awareness raising campaigns in value added tax in Saudi Arabia

The General Authority for Zakat and Income of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Investment, has started implementing field campaigns to ensure the readiness of enterprises whose annual supply exceeds 375 thousand riyals to register the value added tax and to raise awareness about how to register and the penalties resulting from delays in registration. The deadline for registration of this category of establishments in the tax specified on 20 December 2018.

This campaign comes within the framework of the efforts of the General Authority for Zakat and Income, to raise awareness of enterprises whose annual supply exceeds 375 thousand riyals and urged them to register before the expiration of the deadline.

During the field campaign, the Commission’s teams worked to educate the establishments about the penalties that would be imposed on the enterprises that are not registered, which include the suspension of many services, in addition to imposing penalties related to non-compliance with the tax declaration within the specified period (between 5% and 25% of the value of the tax) , In addition to the penalty for non-payment of the tax on time (5% of the value of the unpaid tax for each month or part thereof), pursuant to the value added tax system.
