The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and FedEx Express, a subsidiary of the FedEx Express Cargo Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be the first international test station for Roxo to deliver private cargo for the first time outside the United States.
The MoU was signed at the Dubai World Trade Center by Ahmed Hashem Behroozian, Executive Director of the Public Transport Corporation of the Authority, and James R. Moss, Regional President of FedEx Express in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.
Ahmed Hashim Behroozian expressed his pride in hosting Dubai’s launch of the Roxo autonomous delivery device for the future delivery of private shipments for the first time outside the United States, which is in line with the UAE strategy for artificial intelligence and Dubai strategy for self-driving and the strategic goal of the first ‘Dubai Smart’. This device will play an influential role in the challenges of the “last mile” and is designed to walk on the sidewalks and roads in a manner that takes into account the safety requirements for the delivery of cargo and small packages to the places of customers and shops.
He stressed that the emirate of Dubai has become a fertile ground for the latest technology in the field of intelligent transport, with its advanced infrastructure related to this type of mobility, and appreciated the choice of FedEx to Dubai as the first destination to test the device “Roxo” outside the United States.
For his part, James R.
