Dubai is among the top 50 cities in the world in the traffic flow index

Dubai has achieved outstanding results in the traffic flow index, according to the traffic index issued by Tom Tom in 2022, which is a global company specialized in measuring congestion and traffic around the world.

The company measures in 390 cities in 56 countries around the world, and in more than 543 billion kilometers of road networks in those countries, and TomTom is the partner of the RoadSafetyUAE platform in the field of corporate social responsibility.

According to the evaluation, Dubai was among the top 50 cities in the world, and outperformed global cities such as Los Angeles, Montreal, Sydney, Berlin, Rome, and Milan in the average time required to travel a distance of 10 km in the Central Business District (CBD), as the travel time in the emirate reached 12. minutes per 10 km compared to the average of the comparison cities, which amounted to 21 minutes per 10 km, while the rate for the same indicator in the highest performing city was 8 minutes, in the Dutch city of Almere, and the lowest performance was 36 minutes in London.

Dubai came among the cities with a very advanced classification in the same index, with a time of 9 minutes per 10 km in the urban area and an average speed of 59 km/h compared to the city with the highest performance, with an average time of 7 minutes and 40 seconds per 10 km and an average speed of 74 km/h in favor of the American city of Greensboro and the least performing city with a time 24 minutes per 10km and average speed of 19km/h in the Colombian city of Bogota.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, expressed his happiness with the distinguished results achieved by the Emirate of Dubai in the traffic index, stressing that these results are the fruit of the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of the UAE. Dubai, may God bless him, in improving the quality of the infrastructure of the road and transportation network in the Emirate of Dubai, so that Dubai is the best city for life in the world, as well as the continuous follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
