Zawra Ajman..a picturesque nature reserve and charming tourist facilities that are biologically and environmentally rich, with an area of more than one million square meters

Al-Zawraa Reserve in the Emirate of Ajman is one of the most beautiful tourist and natural places in the UAE, and it is distinguished by the multiplicity of its facilities and tourism and development projects.

Al-Zawraa Reserve is a natural water spout extending from the Arabian Gulf, or what is called locally “the creek”. The reserve has a biologically and environmentally rich nature, and in July 2017 it declared a protected area of more than one million square meters covered by vast mangrove forests, which made it a natural and safe destination for large numbers of birds, including pink flamingos that are seen all year round and herons. or egret. It is also a suitable breeding environment for resident and migratory birds.

The mangrove forests that adorn the nature reserve are fertile ground for many marine and aquatic fish, shrimp, snails and various crabs.

The most important feature that distinguishes it from others is the greenery of mangroves throughout the year, which is considered one of the most important natural systems for carbon sequestration on earth and the isolation of toxic gases that cause global warming, and its contribution to the elimination of liquid pollutants in the water and the protection of the marine environment by improving water quality that enhances growth of different types of corals.

According to the statistics of the Tourism Development Department in Ajman, a single mangrove tree removes an average of 12.3 kg of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to 308 kg (0.3 tons) of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over 25 years.

In 2015, the list of the Ramsar International Wetlands Convention measured the total area of wetlands in the Al-Zawra region, with an estimated capacity of 1,950,000 square meters and 1,450,000 areas of vegetation for mangroves, and includes about 484 thousand trees, which led to the absorption of about 5 million and 950 thousand of carbon dioxide per year.

Between 2017 and 2022, the government of the Emirate of Ajman intensified the planting of mangrove seedlings inside the reserve, with the support of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. An additional 40,103 mangrove trees were planted, so that each new tree covers from 2 to 3 square meters, which contributes to an increase of up to 100,257 meters. A square for the agricultural area in the reserve.

The department’s figures estimate that there are 1,550,257 square meters of mangrove cover and about 524,000 trees, resulting in the absorption of 6,445,200 kg of carbon dioxide each year. This increase represents an 8% increase in oxygen and an 8% removal of carbon dioxide.

The Al-Zawraa region in Ajman includes the Al-Zawraa Golf Club, which opened in 2015. It is a world-class golf course, located in a beautiful natural environment surrounded by mangroves. Hole spread all over it.

Al-Zawraa also includes places and play facilities for children, such as the “Fantastico” games area, the water park, the dinosaur exhibition, the Emirates Park for dwarf animals, sports fields and water sports.

It also offers eco-tours to explore the mangroves on a kayak.

The Al Zorah area also includes The Oberoi Al Zorah Beach Resort, which offers absolute luxury through rooms overlooking the Arabian Gulf and private villas.
