A partnership between “DB World” and “Maersk” in Jebel Ali Port

DUBAI, January 12: DB World, a leading provider of integrated, intelligent logistics solutions aimed at enabling trade flows around the world, has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with AB Moller-Maersk (Maersk), the provider of global freight services, With the aim of improving operational efficiencies, enhancing the quality of services for customers, and strengthening cooperation in the field of decarbonization in logistics.

The long-term strategic partnership between the two parties will provide support to Maersk’s clients by applying new practical methods to improve the productivity of the dock, which will lead to enhancing ships’ work in executing tasks quickly and efficiently at Jebel Ali Port and reducing their fuel consumption.

Additional tools will be provided to enhance the transparency of operations within the port that will allow Maersk’s clients to benefit from the data sent by DB World in real time to better plan their supply chains and reduce carbon emissions in their operations.

Maersk will enable its customers to transport their goods through Jebel Ali using two of its unique solutions: Maersk Accelerate express freight service for handling high-priority and urgent goods, and Maersk FlexHub service for warehousing solutions.

Jebel Ali Port is a major international gateway for trade, as it is strategically located to serve the trade corridor between East and West by connecting it to 150 cities worldwide.

Reducing carbon emissions – which has become an important demand by customers – is a common goal for “DB World” and “Maersk” and at the core of their business, as the two parties will continue to cooperate in order to innovate new solutions, such as storage solutions, to provide a distinctive experience for customers in the future.

Shihab Al Jassmi, Vice President of Ports and Terminals at DB World – UAE, said that the continued success achieved by Jebel Ali Port comes as a result of constructive cooperation with strategic partners such as Maersk, in order to integrate operational efficiency and long experience to ensure the provision of the best integrated solutions. .

He referred to cooperation in order to provide advanced solutions to a strategic partner and achieve business sustainability goals, in line with the commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in our operations around the world by about 700,000 tons during the next five years, by promoting the use of electric vehicles at stations, investing in renewable energy and increasing the use of Low carbon fuel.

Maersk intends to achieve zero emissions by 2040 in all its operations, using modern technologies, new advanced ships and environmentally friendly fuels. DB World has committed to being a carbon neutral company by 2040, and aims to achieve net zero carbon by 2050.

It is worth noting that Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of the DB World Group, announced in November 2022 that the company intends to invest about $500 million in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in its operations by about 700,000 tons over the next five years. , as the planned reduction represents 20% compared to 2021 levels by converting its assets to electric power, investing in renewable energy, and exploring alternative fuels.
