ACWA Power signs a power purchase agreement for Egypt’s Aswan solar power project

ACWA Power today signed an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to purchase power for a 200 MW solar power generation project (BOO) in Kom Ombo, Aswan, at a cost of about $ 200 million, in the presence of the Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Egypt, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the Arab League Osama bin Ahmed Naqli and a number of officials.
Under the agreement, ACWA Power will utilize bi-final (two-sided) technology that allows solar cells to absorb light on both sides for greater efficiency and improved cell performance in the winter, while committing to purchasing the same amount of energy from the technology offered. Basic using mono fichal (single-sided) technology.
The agreement comes within the framework of the implementation of the strategy of the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity to expand the use of renewable energy sources, and reach a share of about 20% of the total energy generated by 2022, including 67% with the participation of the private sector, and the rest through government projects implemented through the New Energy Authority And renewable.
