Dubai Chamber highlights untapped potential of UAE exports to Africa

Dubai 27-10-2091 / WAM
The UAE’s exports to African countries have recorded good growth rates over the past decade, according to Dubai Chamber readings, which confirmed the possibility of doubling these exports in most product categories in the future, as the UAE maintains its continuous efforts to develop its position as a trading center to export products to African markets.
This came in an analysis published by the Dubai Chamber on the sidelines of the Dubai Chamber’s preparations to organize the fifth session of the World African Business Forum in Dubai next November .. Based on the report “untapped export opportunities” issued by the International Trade Center.
The analysis examines ITC’s ‘unexploited export opportunities’ data, which uses an economic model that examines the characteristics of the exporting entity and the target market and the strength of their relationship, reviewing supply and demand data as well as trade facilitation indicators to identify unexploited export opportunities for a selected exporting country in a selected target market.
The analysis pointed out that the UAE’s exports of certain products category such as “machinery and electrical equipment” in addition to “vehicles” outperformed its export capacity to the African continent, reflecting the development of trade links between exporters in the UAE and Africa.
According to the analysis, the country has every opportunity to double the current export value of the rest of the categories on the list of products.
According to the analysis, UAE exports to African markets in 2017 were plastic, rubber, sugar, metal products, ferrous metals, metal products, other metals, synthetic textiles, cosmetics, perfumes, dairy products, paper products, jewelery, articles of precious metals, vegetable oils and boats, tea and matte articles, glassware, ceramics, fertilizers, legumes, rice and cereals. This comes within the framework of hosting the fifth session of the African World Business Forum in November, which will serve as an interactive platform that will help fill the gaps between African regulators and international companies.
Dubai Chamber renewed its commitment to help the local business community to meet the potential challenges in the African markets, especially in the field of communication, calling on all parties involved in export in the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE as a whole to take advantage of the resources provided by the Chamber, especially with the concerned authorities in Africa Representative offices in Africa, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique and Kenya.
