Suez Canal: 67 ships transited with a total net tonnage of 4.2 million tons today, Friday

Cairo, June 2, Lieutenant General Osama Rabei, head of the Suez Canal Authority, confirmed that the navigation movement in the canal is regular and was not affected by bad weather, as the Suez Canal succeeded in completing the transit of 63 ships from both directions, with a total net tonnage of 3.8 million tons yesterday.

And he indicated – in a statement he issued today – that the navigation traffic in the canal witnessed today, Friday, the crossing of 67 ships from both directions, with a total net tonnage of 4.2 million tons, as 29 ships crossed from the north direction with a total net tonnage of 1.9 million tons, while 38 ships crossed from the direction of the canal. South direction in the new navigational course of the canal, with a total net tonnage of 2.3 million tons.

Lieutenant General Rabie explained that the usual procedures for dealing with bad weather include the presence of navigation observers at the main traffic center around the clock to follow up the navigation movement in the canal, and the use of AIS radar monitoring by traffic controllers in case the pilots need that.
