The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center revealed that the thermal imaging camera in the explorer “Rashid” will provide thermal images with a resolution of several centimeters for objects about one meter away from the explorer, during the first Emirati mission to explore the surface of the moon.

The center added in a tweet on “Twitter” that thermal images of the lunar soil will be used, in order to extract information about its properties, in light of the explorer’s landing in “Atlas Crater”, which was not explored in any previous mission, which makes the information and data that the explorer will provide new. .

The explorer is equipped with two “Caspix” cameras, as they will provide high-quality images, and installing one of them in the upper part of the front side of the explorer allows a panoramic view of the surrounding environment, while the other camera installed in the back part contributes to providing high-resolution images of the lunar soil, where the images of the paths are analyzed. the mission.

The explorer is expected to start its missions on the lunar surface at the end of next April, 12 hours after the arrival of the “Haktor R” lander to the moon.
