Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said it has completed the second phase of the Green Charger initiative, which includes the installation of 100 new electric power stations across Dubai, bringing the total number of stations in Dubai to 200.
This is part of the 20th edition of the “WATEX 2018 Water, Energy and Environment Technology Exhibition” as part of the Authority’s efforts to encourage the public to acquire this type of eco-friendly vehicle, thereby reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable transportation in Dubai.
The Authority launched the “Green Shipper” initiative in 2015 to set up the infrastructure of electric vehicle charging stations as part of its visionary initiatives to implement the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the most intelligent city in the world.
Managing Director, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Founder and President of WITEX, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: “Witex is an ideal opportunity for the Authority to announce its latest achievements and development projects in the fields of energy, water, sustainability and green technologies. Doubling the number of green shipper stations to 200 new cargo terminals as a continuation of our efforts to support the Dubai Smart Initiative to make Dubai the smartest and most successful city in the world. ”
Explaining that the Authority provides incentives to include the provision of electric vehicle charging service for registered users in the service of the green charger of the Authority free of charge until the end of 2019 and exclusively points of charging electric vehicles within the scope of the green charger stations in public places and not in the domestic charging stations. In line with the Dubai Smart Initiative, the Authority has been keen to offer the service of obtaining the green charger card free of charge through smart channels through the application of the Smart Commission on the platforms of “IOS” and “Android” or its website www.dewa.gov.ae . These smart channels can also be identified on the sites of green charger stations that are constantly updated to ensure the best service to customers.
