US stocks close higher

US stocks closed higher today.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 157.03 points, or 0.64 percent, to 24527.27. The benchmark S & P 500 index gained 14.29 points, or 0.54 percent, to 2,551.07.
The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 66.48 points, or 0.95 percent, to 7098.31.
