The United States of America will host an important Agricultural Innovation Summit for Climate (AIM for Climate) launched by the UAE and America at the United Nations Conference (COP26), during the period from 8 to 10 May 2023, in the American capital, Washington, to increase and accelerate investment in climate-smart agriculture and food systems innovation and support.
This first-of-its-kind global event dedicated exclusively to the Agriculture Climate Innovation Mission partners will provide a high-impact platform to increase ambition, build collaboration and share knowledge on innovative solutions in the run-up to COP28, to be held in the UAE in 2023. Tom Vilsack, Minister of In an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the American Agriculture Agency said: “We launched the Agricultural Innovation Initiative for Climate with two goals: the first is to raise awareness about the importance of innovation in smart, environmentally friendly agriculture to deal with climate challenges, while the second goal is to accelerate innovation.”
He pointed out that the responses to this initiative have been wonderful, and that is why we announced at COP27 that investments in agricultural innovation will be doubled from $4 billion to $8 billion, and the number of our partners has tripled, to now reach about 275 partners.
Vilsack stressed that Washington’s hosting of the Climate Agricultural Innovation Summit aims to invite partners to increase investments to support smart agricultural projects, pointing out that the Food and Agriculture Research Foundation supports this important event dedicated to partners of the agricultural innovation mission. He pointed out that this event will serve as a revolutionary platform to enhance ambitions, build partnerships, and share experiences related to creative solutions, which will be discussed at the COP28 climate summit in the UAE.
“We have launched a call to action directed at the international investment community to encourage increased investments in smart, environmentally friendly agricultural innovation, by funding start-ups working in the field of climate solutions,” said the US Secretary of Agriculture.
He added, “The mission of Agricultural Innovation for Climate has also launched an important challenge aimed at leveraging AI technologies with partner organization Enterprise Neurosystem, a research community that uses AI technologies.”
The most prominent topics of the Climate Agriculture Innovation Mission Summit, which will be held in Washington next year, include uniting investment in global projects to support climate-smart agricultural innovation. The aim is to encourage increased investments in climate-smart agricultural innovation, by financing small and under-development projects and start-ups that help develop climate solutions.
