Vegetable sales in Abu Dhabi farmers markets reach 260 tons in 6 months

The farmers’ markets organized by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority have concluded their activities for the current agricultural season and will resume work in late October with sales of 260 tons of fresh vegetables during the period from the end of October 2018 to the end of April 2019.
The Authority has three markets in Shahama, Deerfield Mall in Abu Dhabi and Al Khubaisi in Al Ain to help farmers market their products of vegetables, fruits, dates and honey directly to the public during the weekend.
Farmers ‘markets are important channels for marketing local products and helping farm owners to sell directly to consumers and increase farmers’ income. The sites are of particular interest to both farmers and consumers with the aim of bringing local products to the largest segment of consumers in the emirate. Shaded platforms to display fresh products directly from the farmers’ farms, where they are keen to allow the participants to sell their products to consumers in a healthy and safe environment within the framework of the plan to promote local products and contribute to increase the income Farmers.
Farmers participating in these markets enjoy absolute freedom to determine selling prices. The Authority does not interfere in the pricing of their products such as vegetables, fruits, paper, dates, honey, etc., which benefits the farmer as well as the farmers.
These markets allow the public to market their needs of vegetables, fruits and other fresh local products from one place and directly from local farmers, which is the best way to support the local product and support local producers as well as support the local community in different regions of the Emirate
