Egypt announces high revenues from the Suez Canal

Cairo, May 24, 2021, SPA
The revenues of the Egyptian Suez Canal increased last April to reach 551 million dollars, compared to 476 million dollars during the same month last year.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, said in a statement published in Cairo today that the canal revenues rose by 15.8% during the current year, stressing that the navigation traffic in the canal was not affected by the crisis of stranding of the ship “Ever Given”.
Regarding the project of duality of the canal currently being implemented, Rabie affirmed that the project will not affect the navigation movement of ships or the duration of their passage in the canal, indicating that the aim of the ongoing dredging works is to improve navigation traffic to increase the number of vessels in transit and reduce their transit time.
