Abu Dhabi Airports welcomes the launch of Air Arabia Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Airports welcomed the announcement of the launch of Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the first low-cost carrier to operate from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Through its new hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will cater to the needs of the region’s low-cost and growing travel industry, reinforcing the airline’s network that connects the capital with the world. Abu Dhabi International Airport, as well as providing new options for direct passengers to destinations that have no connections with the capital.
Brian Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “We are proud to partner with Etihad Airways Group and Air Arabia to launch the first low-cost carrier in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector continues to grow and establish itself as a global destination for business and leisure travelers.
He added: “Abu Dhabi is an exceptional destination for its cultural, historical and recreational landmarks, and we are confident of the emirate’s great opportunities for low-cost airlines interested in expanding their base of operations and those interested in working with Abu Dhabi airports. Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways Group, said: “Air Arabia Abu Dhabi will be established as an independent joint venture owned by Etihad Airways Group and Air Arabia, and will be based in Abu Dhabi International Airport. Independent, managed by a board of directors that will be nominated by Etihad Aviation Group and Air Arabia.
“This partnership will help us achieve Abu Dhabi’s vision of being a sustainable and diversified destination, providing travelers with new, low-cost travel options to and from Abu Dhabi, to complement our services,” added Douglas.
